This job is entry level and a great way to gain hands on experience in the field of health care and human services!

Never heard of a Direct Support Professional? We'll explain! A Direct Support Professional, or DSP as we call it, provides care and support for the individuals that reside in retirement community. Each DSP's job varies but the ultimate goal is to help the residents grow in their independence. A DSP at RSI will:

  • Work with residents on creative projects such as gardening, or painting
  • Provide companionship and care while helping to promote independence

Spring Glen Retirement Community is a unique retirement center in rural Orange County, NC. There are several things that make Spring Glen a unique place to gain hands on experience.

  • Ideal Staff to Resident Ratio: 6 staff to 15 residents (staff composition: 1 Nurse, 5 Direct Care)
  • Holistic Approach to Healthcare: Spring Glen staff engage with residents to provide quality social connections/interactions in addition to providing quality medical care
  • Relaxed/Low-Stress Atmosphere: Engage in fun activities with residents
  • Modernized Approach/Environmental Impact: RSI uses electronic documentation and reporting (Therap) to streamline communication, enhance quality of services, and reduce paperwork/environmental impact.
  • Quality Training/Investment in employee future: Access to well trained, knowledgeable, and supportive RN supervisors on-site and on-call promotes a healthy learning environment.
  • Innovative Projects: Contribute your ideas on current and future projects related to developing an enhanced dementia/aging friendly environment. Spring Glen values employee input to make current projects and new initiatives successful.
